A sustainable supply chain

We are a national next day sustainable supply business. Our main focus is on facility supplies having started in cleaning & hygiene and branched out in to paint & lighting. We look to supply the most sustainable products we can, we have audited our supply chain and use independent carbon footprints on products to allow our customers to measure their impact and improve their purchasing behaviour. Our green outlook is backed up by unrivalled service and systems that allow us to offer a fully rounded experience for our growing customer base.

Everything we do is to combat the growing problem of greenwashing. Every product today is eco or green, but how do you know that is true or it meets your personal environmental goals? Our clear & visible measurement criteria and independent carbon footprints, give our customers 100% peace of mind that they are buying the best sustainable option, and one that meets their personal targets.

The information we supply to our customers allows them to make educated and simple sustainable decisions. We provide comparisons and capture how their product choice measures up to an industry standard through carbon savings. Our monthly ESG reporting helps give our customers a clear picture of how they are performing, and to encourage better buying we plant trees & invest in certified carbon offset programmes the more sustainably they buy.

Our journey

Over a decade of serving customers

Lime Supply was founded by an experienced team with extensive knowledge in the cleaning industry. We have always looked to lead rather than follow, and key moments and opportunities have helped create the green business we are today.

Founded in 2009

Lime Supply Ltd was founded at the end of 2009, it was built around a clear concept. To bring the ease of online ordering & MI reporting and control to the cleaning & hygiene industry. The business was created by a highly experienced team, the brainchild of current Managing Director Matt Burtinshaw, who had previously worked as a Director at Premiere Products and FCM Ltd and started his career in contract cleaning both in South Africa with Clean Deal and the UK with Broadreach, he has a great understanding of the industry from both a supply & customer point of view. Robert Burtinshaw has over 50 years experience in the cleaning industry having run multiple businesses including FCM Ltd, Wetrok & Radium chemicals, as well as founding some of the key industry trade associations, he brings a vast amount of knowledge to the team. Peter Hadfield as Sales Director brought both industry knowledge and contacts having worked previously at Premiere Products, FCM Ltd & Wetrok Ltd.

First customer and fully trading spring 2010

Lime Supply were proud to have had ICM ltd as our first customer, at the time the largest independent contract cleaner in the UK, and now a part of the Compass Group. The first orders went in to retail outlets, industry and offices. ICM was quickly followed by numerous other companies all of which used the budget control, MI reporting and splitting of orders & invoices by standard and chargeable to help reduce admin and streamline their business activities. We are proud to say that a large number of our original customers are still with us to this very day, which is a testament to our service levels and the personal relationships that we have.

New premises & larger warehouse space in 2016

Lime was built on the principal of be an expert in what you know not what you think you know. We never had ambitions to be warehouse gurus so like the large retail companies in the UK we found a partner and outsourced to them as fulfilment experts. This has been a success, it has allowed us to to grow rapidly with no limits to how large we can become. On the journey we have out grown a few warehouses, firstly in Chorley, then a second warehouse was built next door to house us but we soon outgrew that. So in 2016 we moved to a much larger facility and our current home that is designed to facilitate our next 20 years of growth.

Covid & rethink in 2020

Covid was a challenging time globally, and gave people a lot of time to think about what they really wanted to do. At Lime we realised we had a lot of business in large office blocks and that stopped overnight, and although business has returned some sectors are still not quite where they were pre-pandemic. So when we looked to rebuild we went back to our roots and our beliefs which were all centred around sustainability, and set ourselves a new goal to become the Number 1 Sustainable supply business in the UK. To be fair we have always like to aim high!

Launch of Lime Sustainable Supplies in 2023

Lime Sustainable supplies from concept, to funding and launch. 2023 will always be a momentous year for our business. We are proud to be helping change the way people think about sustainable products and challenge what they believe is Eco while kicking Greenwashing into touch. Our systems offer unrivalled transparency on our products, with clear criteria and scoring based on a full supply chain audit. We categorise and measure our products including using independent carbon footprints based on full life cycle assessments so our customers can see the saving between different options and make empowered purchasing decisions. This is backed up by our monthly ESG reporting so customers can measure their impact and improve on it. All this and we have still managed to give a little back, we plant trees and invest in certified carbon reduction programmes on our customers behalf, the more sustainably they buy the more we invest. We will soon be able to tell our customers their real life carbon footprint on everything they buy from us on a cradle to grave basis and are working towards becoming a carbon positive partner for them, removing a large area of their Scope 3 reporting, and reducing their overall footprint.

The future
