As 2025 begins, we at Lime Sustainable Supplies are pausing to reflect on the incredible progress we’ve made over the past year in supporting impactful carbon offset projects through our partnership with Ecologi. Our commitment to sustainability and restoring the planet remains the heart of our business, and we’re thrilled to share the milestones we’ve achieved together.
Small changes, big sustainable impact
Lime Supply and Ecologi work together to support projects that are certified to reduce & offset carbon. These contributions will continue to grow through our sustainable commitments, driven by your highly valued custom and support.
Through our partnership with Ecologi and our unwavering commitment to sustainability, we have supported impactful carbon offset projects that have not only reduced greenhouse gases but also uplifted communities and preserved precious ecosystems.
Certified & audited carbon offset programmes
Every tree we plant is receipted and traceable and every Carbon offset programme we support has to meet the highest of standards and is VCS (Verified Carbon Standard) or Gold Standard approved.
As of January 2025, Lime has:
- Planted 6,846 trees
- Supported funding for 9 verified carbon avoidance projects
- Avoided 345.56 certified tonnes of CO2e
Carbon offset project highlights of 2024
- Environmental Benefits:
- The Matavén Forest is a critical biodiversity hotspot. Protecting this forest helps preserve a rich variety of species, many of which are endemic or endangered.
- Preventing deforestation reduces greenhouse gas emissions by ensuring that the forest continues to act as a carbon sink, absorbing COâ‚‚ from the atmosphere.
- The forest plays a key role in regulating local and regional climates and maintaining water cycles.
- Community Benefits:
- The project supports the indigenous communities who live in and around the Matavén Forest by recognizing their land rights and empowering them as stewards of the land.
- It promotes sustainable livelihoods through ecotourism, sustainable agriculture, and other eco-friendly practices, reducing reliance on destructive activities like logging.
- It fosters cultural preservation by supporting traditional knowledge and practices tied to forest management.
- Environmental Benefits:
- Methane is a potent greenhouse gas, significantly more effective at trapping heat than COâ‚‚. By capturing methane emissions from landfill sites, this project helps mitigate climate change.
- The project converts methane into usable energy, reducing the demand for fossil fuels and promoting cleaner energy solutions.
- Community Benefits:
- Local communities benefit from improved air quality, as methane capture reduces the emission of harmful gases that can affect health.
- The project generates jobs in construction, maintenance, and operation of methane capture systems, boosting local employment opportunities.

- Peatlands store vast amounts of carbon, and their restoration helps prevent massive COâ‚‚ emissions caused by peatland degradation or fires.

- Double Our Carbon Offsets: Through increased contributions and growth in our business, we’re setting a target to double the amount of CO2 emissions we offset.
- Foster Customer Engagement: We’ll work to better inform and engage our customers about the carbon offset projects they’re supporting by choosing Lime Sustainable Supplies. Transparency and education are key to amplifying collective impact.
- Innovate and Lead in Sustainable Practices: Beyond carbon offsets, we’re exploring new ways to make our operations and products even more sustainable, from packaging to supply chain processes.
