At Lime Sustainable Supplies, we always seek to strengthen our sustainable partnerships and deepen our understanding of the green production practices behind our products.
As part of this commitment, our team recently visited Greyland, a leading manufacturer of cleaning solutions. This visit was instrumental in strengthening our partnership, exploring their production facilities, meeting their dedicated team, and gaining first-hand insights into their manufacturing and sustainability practices.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by their team and provided with an overview of the company’s history and commitment to sustainability. Established in 1999, Greyland has been a prominent manufacturer of industrial cleaning chemicals, serving over 400 customers across the UK and Europe. Their dedication to environmental consciousness is evident in their product offerings and manufacturing processes.
Our tour began with a walkthrough of the production area, where we observed the meticulous processes involved in creating their cleaning products. Greyland’s commitment to sustainability is evident in their manufacturing practices, which are designed to minimise environmental impact. They have implemented technologies that prevent overproduction, ensuring efficient use of resources. Additionally, their warehouse management allows for timely supply draw-offs, reducing the need for excessive storage and associated environmental costs.
A highlight of the visit was learning about Greyland’s innovative approach to packaging. They recognise the environmental challenges posed by plastic use and have taken significant steps to address this issue. All their containers are fully recyclable, with the vast majority containing 40% UK-sourced recycled polymer. This initiative not only reduces the demand for virgin plastics but also supports the local recycling industry.
Greyland’s dedication to sustainability is further exemplified by their Maximum Eco range. This line of products represents a revolutionary step in environmentally friendly cleaning solutions. Formulated from plant-based, biodegradable ingredients, the Maximum Eco range offers powerful and effective cleaning while ensuring safety for users and minimal environmental impact. Notably, these products are non-toxic, non-flammable, non-carcinogenic, and harmless to marine and aquatic life.
Sustainability is at the heart of everything Greyland does. They are actively seeking ways to enhance their sustainability efforts. For instance, they have increased the recycled plastics content of their bottles from 24% to 31% and now to 40% UK-sourced post-consumer use plastics.
Furthermore, while some companies import enzymes, Greyland sources theirs within the UK, reducing their carbon footprint and supporting local industries.
Our visit to Greyland was an invaluable experience that reinforced our commitment to working with like-minded partners. Seeing their production processes up close and engaging with their team has strengthened our confidence in the products we supply to our customers.
